This is still built till this day but still a bit younger than the G. But Damn. The Kardashians and soccer moms probably don’t have a damn clue how capable their suvs are.

Scorecard -
Series Land Rover production run - 35 years
Series + Defender production run - 68 years
40 series Land Cruiser production run- 41 years
BJ - 70 series production run - 65 years and counting
G wagon production run - 37 years and counting.
if the 70 series can hang on for 4 more years it takes the crown, for now the Series/Defender is still the king

The g-wagon is a baby compared the the Land Cruiser or Land Rover. maybe that’s why its acting all angsty teen these days.

To the last, I grapple with thee. From Hell’s trail, I climb at thee. For hate’s sake, I spin my last wheel at thee.

Dear Land Rover,
You and I had our differences. Hell, we were locked in combat for over 60 years. But, sometimes I feel like we made each other better in that time. Over the years, we’ve developed stronger chassis, more powerful engines, and not to mention better off-road capabilities. I can never thank you enough for what you’ve done to me.
I guess what I’m trying to say is... I’m going to miss you, brother.

That’s true for the Land Rover. But afaik no Land Cruiser has had a lifespan of 37 years. EDIT: The FJ40 was built until 2001. Oops.

Technically the Chevy Suburban is the king with 80 years and counting.
![]() 01/29/2016 at 13:24 |

True, depending on how picky you want to get. I feel like the defender/series and BJ to the 70 are all part of the same engineering family, where the suburban is more a name thing.

Good point, the bulkhead from the Land Rover that rolled off the line today will fit on any previous Landie. Although there is talk of Defenders being built in India for developing markets so the run may still continue.
